My practice exists within the intersection of science and art. Sustainability in my photo practice is a key player. As far as I know, I am the first to use and create a yuca developer for the exposure of black and white images on film. There were many yuca fries consumed in the process.

Refining this developer was an essential portion of my photo project La Matriarca. Yuca (or cassava) is a root vegetable native to the Dominican Republic. It’s a plant that nourished my country, my ancestors, my family and myself. By using yuca as a photo developer, I was able to see these images and fuse them with my ancestors main form of sustenance at a chemical level.
